Elementary Programs :

The Elementary Program at the Montessori Academy is comprised of children in first, second and third grade. During enrollment, first priority is given to children promoting from Montessori Academy's own Primary Program, followed by Elementary-age children transferring from other Montessori schools. When space permits other children will be considered on a case by case basis.

We concentrate on meeting the needs of each student and focus our energies on helping them succeed.  Our teachers and our methods are evaluated through casual assessments.    The Elementary curriculum inspires students to become independent learners who appreciate and understand their world.  Integrated studies provide students with unique and age-appropriate materials that help them to become accountable for their use of time, for accuracy in their work and to evaluate their strengths and areas of growth.

Our students have individualized work plans to allow them to use time effectively and to make appropriate choices.    Students continue to work with concrete materials while building on this foundation to develop a more abstract understanding of various concepts in both Language and Math. Other relevant Language and Math work supplement this curriculum. Additional areas of study include Science, Social Studies, Geography, Spanish, Computer, Music, Art, Physical Education and Library. Students learn different methods of research in order to complete reports and presentations on a variety of topics.  Planned field trips and visitors to our classroom support related areas of study.  Montessori is a self-paced method allowing each child to work on his or her individual academic level.
